Communities we help
Education is the passport to the future – we focus on permanently changing the lives of rural/remote communities
A-Z’s first project is located in a remote rural town called Abbaspur in Kashmir – on the Pakistan/India border. There is a significant need for high quality affordable primary, secondary and college level education to be made available to the local population.
The majority of the local population are either farmers or unskilled labour.
Population
Abbaspur has an approximate population of 100,000.
Healthcare
There is one non operational hospital.
The nearest accessible hospital is 3 hours drive away for minor issues
and 6 hours drive for major health issues.
Education
Many of the local villages lack basic primary education.
There are 2 private secondary schools, none of which provide a high standard
of education or are affordable to the bulk of the population.
The Problem
80% of the local community are either Farmers or Unskilled Labourers
100% of this section of the community (Farmers and Unskilled Labourers) cannot afford to educate their children
99% of these children would prefer to be in education
However, 99% of these children are likely to continue as Farmers or Unskilled Labourers
The Solution: A-Z Projects
A-Z's projects gives the poorest kids access to high quality education. In the long term, this will help them to break the cycle of perpetual poverty.
